Silicon Partners are industry-leading vendors of semiconductors or other components that have agreed to integrate Microsemi’s embedded software timing solutions with their hardware components into a single solution for network and other communication equipment.
Silicon Partners
Overview
Broadcom
Microsemi and Broadcom have built a strategic partnership to provide service providers, carriers and enterprises a high-performance, precise timing solution with significant cost and integration efficiencies. Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs) benefit from the integration of Microsemi's SCi 2000 Embedded Software Clock and Broadcom's 1588-enabled processor, switch and PHY's platforms as this combined product offerings do not require additional dedicated silicon to leverage, and in turn reduces board space requirements and cost. This cost-optimized flexible solution is well suited for applications with precision timing requirements like mobile backhaul.
Altera Corporation
The inclusion of Altera in Microsemi's SyncWorld ecosystem gives Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs) access to the latest 28-nm FPGA technology. Tailored to meet a broad array of system design requirements, Altera's 28-nm FPGAs, including Cyclone V, Arria V and Stratix V, deliver a fully integrated 1588 timing solution in programmable hardware. Using an FPGA-based solution simplifies networking design by consolidating various capabilities and functions into a single chip, including traffic management, multi-gigabit Ethernet, data-plane processing, and switching and I/O. Microsemi SCi2000 Embedded Software Clock combined with Altera’s leading-edge 28-nm FPGA technology provides NEMs a comprehensive IEEE 1588 solution that support the growing 4G/LTE market.
Freescale Semiconductor
www.freescale.com The partnership with Freescale Semiconductor enables Microsemi to offer Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs) a highly power-efficient reference design board which integrates the SCi 2000 Embedded Software Clock that runs on Freescale's popular PowerQUICC® platform. This offering provides NEMs and Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs), such as mobile backhaul equipment and base station manufacturers, immediate access to a high performance and robust IEEE 1588 solution that is both versatile and cost effective. This partnership is planned to be extended to enable support of Freescale's QorIQ™ processors in the near future.
